REALIZING RIVER CITY  is the overall winner of the 2016 Second Place-  Nonfiction Book of the Year Award from the Independent Author Network. It was also named "Outstanding Memoir" of the year and a finalist for the "First Book-Nonfiction" category.

Other recent awards:

  • "We're All Mad Here: A Field Guide to Feigning Sanity" was named a Best American Essays 2016 Notable Essay after appearing in Limestone.
  • "Silent, Stifled Love" won the Michigan Memoir  First Place Award from the Rochester Writers' 2016 Summer Writing Contest. This piece is part of an essay collection in progress titled I Don't Belong Here.

Throughout 2017, I will donate 10% of all royalties from book sales of REALIZING RIVER CITY to The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Tumbleweed Books will match all donations!
